With testing once again approaching the Spanish city of Barcelona, it gives the third and reserve drivers the chance to drive their teams Formula One car.
Already announced last week, Williams will be giving a day to their ‘development’ driver Alex Lynn, who will take duties alongside Felipe Massa. While at Renault Esteban Ocon will drive alongside Kevin Magnussen.
Announced today, Ocon will also be driving for Mercedes during the test. A natural progression for the Mercedes backed driver given that former test driver Pascal Wehrlein is now at Manor. Wehrlein also drove for two teams last season, Force India as well as Mercedes.
Alfonso Celis will drive the Force India for both days and Bahrain Grand Prix point scorer Stoffel Vandoorne will drive the McLaren.
Teams have to allocate half the time during the four inseason test days to ‘rookie’ drivers.
