Winter testing confirmed for Barcelona

Winter testing will return to Barcelona in 2017, despite calls from some teams to move to the Middle East for the traditional pre-season testing.

As previously detailed, testing will start on Monday 27th February for four consecutive days, with the second test starting on Tuesday 7th March. It will be the first time all the 2017 cars will be on the track, although as we have seen in previous seasons private shakedown runs either at Barcelona – or other European tracks such as Silverstone or Paul Ricard are allowed.

Some had wanted a more mild climate for testing, of which Bahrain has been used in the past, but Barcelona is more convenient for everyone involved. Running slightly later than they used to temperatures last winter got up to 21 degrees, with the 2017 test running a week later than that.
