Williams to miss day four in Barcelona following crash

Williams have confirmed this morning that they will sit out the final day of testing in Barcelona following the crash yesterday afternoon.

Rookie Lance Stroll crashed the Williams on the exit of turn 5, causing damage to the front of the car. The team were optimistic yesterday they could have run today, but an inspection overnight found damage to the chassis.

They confirmed the news on Twitter this morning, “Following a thorough inspection overnight some damage to the FW40 chassis was discovered.

“Therefore, on safety grounds, the team will not run the car today.”

It means the team will miss valuable running on the Pirelli wet weather tyre, which all the teams will be able to use for the first time today.
