Williams are close to announcing Paul di Resta as their official reserve driver for the 2016 season according to the BBC.
The Scottish driver, who historically has had a link with Mercedes, Williams’ engine supplier, could be announced as early as next week in the role. He currently drives for Mercedes in the DTM German Touring Car series, as well as formally driving for Force India in Formula One.
There are no shortage of drivers at Williams either, both Alex Lynn and Lance Stroll are development drivers at the team, although di Resta is expected to take the official reserve driver role vacated by Adrian Sutil.
It comes at the same time that di Resta was confirmed to be increasing his contribution to the Sky Sports F1 channel, possibly due to Bruno Senna defecting to Channel 4.
