Mercedes have announced that Valtteri Bottas will replace the retired Nico Rosberg for the 2017 season.
A statement from Williams just minutes earlier confirmed that Felipe Massa woulda be his replacement at the team, to give Valtteri the opportunity at the championship leading team.
The Finn said, ‘I’m so proud to be part of this team. Let’s go forward from here,’ on a livestream from the the Mercedes F1 base.
With Sauber also confirming the other candidate, Pascal Wehrlein at Sauber earlier, it could bring the driver market to a close, pending what happens to Manor, which should be known within the week.
