Tyre testing comes to a close, Hamilton leaves early

The final Pirelli tyre test took place in Abu Dhabi today with Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari all in attendance with their modified cars ahead of the 2017 regulations.

Newer, wider tyres which have been prescribed for next season have already seen considerable testing mileage throughout this summmer and autumn on testing mules set up by the leading teams to simulate the regulations for next season which include wider track cars.

On the back of losing the World Championship last weekend, Lewis Hamilton had his first run on the new Pirelli rubber, but ended the test early after feeling ‘unwell’, confirmed later by Mercedes. His duties were taken over by Pascal Wehrlein, while Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen drove the Red Bull and Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari.
