Toro Rosso are reported to be highly interested in a supply of Honda engines for next season, according to an article by Autoweek and Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat.
After a public fall out with Renault, Toro Rosso was forced to a take a different course from the sister team, instead agreeing on a year old Ferrari engine as the best on offer at the time. In the end Red Bull remained with Renault and their relationship has improved so far this season.
McLaren’s Ron Dennis has been staunch in his campaign that his contract with Honda is exclusive, but new regulations brought in for next season will mean an engine manufacturer has an obligation to supply more than one team. Red Bull approached them last year, but were hit by this block from McLaren.
Franz Tost, Team Principal of Toro Rosso is said to be looking for a three year deal from next season. Given that efforts are being made to equalise the engines, it would certianly be no worse than a year old engine they are currently running, and would give them updates during the season.
