Test Preview – Wednesday 24 February

We are already a quarter of the way through testing, and a pattern is already starting to form at the front of the field. Ferrari are taking the headlines, with their speed, while Mercedes are a bit slower but with extremely good reliability, enough for them to be running most of the day.

Kimi Raikkonen will be taking over the Ferrari for the first time this season. It will be interesting to see how he gets on with the new car, with the new front suspension expected to help him as well as Sebastian Vettel.

After a difficult couple of days for Jolyon Palmer with the Renault engine, Kevin Magnussen will also have his first day of testing. They are hoping that their problems will be resolved to get a couple of good testing days in before the end of the week.

Rio Haryanto will be on track for the first time as a full race driver, taking over the Manor from Pascal Wehrlein which has been running substantially faster than last season.
