Teams split over Russia tyre choices

Pirelli announced the tyre compound allocations each driver will be taking into the Russian Grand Prix weekend, with a much wider variation than we have seen so far this season.

While there is a consensus from the majority of the teams that they are just taking one set of the medium tyres for the weekend (Manor are taking two sets), the split between the soft and super soft tyres on the track now known for low tyre wear has divided the leading teams.

Red Bull will be taking the most number of super soft tyres, with both drivers taking ten sets each from the thirteen allocated, while Ferrari will be taking six of each and Mercedes four of the soft and eight of the super soft.

Further down the grid, Haas has also elected for the aggressive strategy taking ten sets of the super softs.
