Sauber set to take 2016 Ferrari engine next season

Sauber is expected to retain the 2016 specification Ferrari engine next season according to Germnay’s Auto Motor Und Sport.

Given the financial problems of Sauber earlier in the season, AMuS have revealed that the team have decided to retain this years engine as they are behind on development and a known engine specification will help their design process.

Toro Rosso have shown that it is possible to compete using a year old engine this season, although on power circuits at the end of this season good performances have been more difficult. Sauber are currently a generation behind on the 2016 anyway, with the current upgrade expected to be what they start next season with.
