Sainz takes five place grid penalty for gearbox change

Carlos Sainz will have a five place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix, following his crash at the ‘Wall of Champions’ during qualifying yesterday.

The Toro Rosso took a hit at the exit of the final chicane, scraping its way down the wall all along the pit straight.

As a result, the Spaniard will be starting from 20th place. Marcus Ericsson, who had a penalty hanging over him from Monaco and Kevin Magnussen who will be starting from the pitlane after his crash yesterday.
