Rosberg given two penalty points in collision with Raikkonen

Eventual podium finisher Nico Rosberg has been given two penalty points as well as the ten second penalty during the Malaysian Grand Prix after colliding with Kimi Raikkonen.

The Mercedes driver who was doing a recovery drive after being punted around by Sebastian Vettel at the start of the race, barged his way past Kimi Raikkonen in the second corner coming from a long way back. The Ferrari driver didn’t see him coming, turning into the corner, but the German kept coming and overtook through the profiled corner.

With the first corner accident, Rosberg said on the podium, “First of all, yeah, Turn One, I thought it was all over, so I’m really happy to be able to fight back in such a way all the way to the podium. That’s been great.

“Thank you very much to all of you here in Malaysia, you’ve been amazing all week and the support has been incredible. It’s been amazing to see that. In general, I wished for as better day today, but that’s the way it is sometimes.”

It brings Rosberg up to a total of 6 penalty points.
