Rosberg cleared for double yellows, five drivers keep positions when outside 107% in Q1

A lengthy wait after qualifying saw the result of the session remain after a number of events were evaluated by the stewards.

Nico Rosberg was allowed to keep his pole position, which Lewis Hamilton was not able to defend after Fernando Alonso spun his McLaren in the dying moments of qualifying. Bringing out the double yellow flags, Lewis Hamilton had to back out of his lap, but further down the road Nico Rosberg was able to finish his lap with the yellow zone withdrawn by the time he got there.

Given the rain at the start of the qualifying hour, combined with the number of red flags and drying conditions not all the cars which made it through to Q2 set a time within 107% of the session time. Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen, Nico Hülkenberg, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez were all allowed to start in their qualifying positions
