Revisions to Baku circuit after Friday problems

The FIA has reacted to problems with a couple of elements to the new Baku circuit on which cars made their debut yesterday.

Problems with the kerbing at turn 6, which the metal bolts had been coming losing and raising from the surface and cutting tyres will be removed and replaced with a painted version. We have seen this before in Singapore where entire sections of kerbing were removed on safety grounds. The GP2 session was postponed until after F1 practice following investigations with the kerbing, and teams advised drivers to stay clear of turn 6 to avoid punctures.

Another contentious point was the very fast pit lane entry. Following complaints by drivers that they couldn’t see the entry, the pitlane entry line has been extended and moved further to the left. Cars will have to stay either side of that line, and not allowed to cross effectively creating a pit entry line and a racing line.
