Renault move agreed for Hulkenberg, Ocon teammate?

Nico Hulkenberg is expected to make the jump to Renault for next season, as leaked by the German publication Bild.

The German is said to have signed a two year deal with the French outfit, including a further one year option and is just waiting for Force India to release him before the deal is announced. It marks the first move of the returning manufacturer who have endured a difficult 2016 season following the lack of finance last year when running as Lotus, which had a knock on effect onto the 2016 car.

With Hulkenberg getting one seat, the focus turns to the second seat which is less clear. A number of drivers are said to be in the frame, although Bild are confident it will be current Manor driver and Mercedes protege Esteban Ocon. Autosport though believe he could be the replacement at Force India for Hulkenberg, although that could also go to Pascal Wherlein who has more experience and has already driven for the team in testing.

Valtteri Bottas is also said to be in discussions with the team, with an expensive option coming up for Williams to retain him. Fred Vasseur recently said in Japan that they were also in discussions with a Russian, which surely must be Sergey Sirotkin, along with current drivers Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer.
