Raikkonen fastest on ‘wet’ final day in Barcelona

Kimi Raikkonen ended the final day of the first week of testing fastest, with Pirelli mandating a wet circuit in order the wet weather tyres before the start of the season.

Red Bull were the closest challengers to Ferrari in the absence of Mercedes, and even headed the times for a while with Max Verstappen.

Mercedes haven’t had it their own in Barcelona, the final morning picking up a electrical problem with saw Lewis Hamilton go home early. Valtteri Bottas took over in the afternoon, making use of the wet conditions completing 68 laps, but was quite a distance from the leading Ferrari pace.

It was another day written off for Williams. The team didn’t take part in the final day at all after the crash by Lance Stroll caused damage to the chassis, not able to get a fix quickly the team confirmed in the morning they would not run.

Toro Rosso had their own issues, a problem with the Renault engine meant a engine change and only one lap completed for either Carlos Sainz or Daniil Kvyat.
