The visually striking new 2017 Mercedes was launched at Silverstone today, with hopes it will take the team to their fourth consecutive World Championship.
Unlike the other teams, Mercedes actually ran the car before the official launch with a number of leaks of the car posted online before the drivers posed by the new W08 at lunchtime. Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas had a change at driving the car, which features aggressively serrated barge boards, tiny sidepods and an innovative wing infront of the rear wing.
The team posted all the media sessions online, including an overview of the technical aspects of the car:
Lewis Hamilton, who recently described the car as looking ‘like a boat’, was in a positive mood and was pleased with the level of grip even in the damp conditions on a windy day at Silverstone.
