Russian youngster Nikita Mazepin is to driver for Force India at the upcoming Silverstone test, next week after the British Grand Prix.
The 17 year-old F3 driver was hired by Force India at the start of the season, and has already taken part in their simulation programme, which continues Force India’s heritage of giving young drivers to show their talent.
Mazepin said, “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to test the VJM09 at Silverstone. There’s no doubt it will be the biggest moment of my career and it’s something I’ve been working towards my whole life. It’s been a few months since I joined the team and I feel ready for this opportunity. I know it’s an important test for the team and they will be counting on me to do a good job, so I will work hard to make sure we achieve our objectives.”
As is now customary with inseason testing, the Silverstone test will be held over two days on the Tuesday and Wednesday after the Grand Prix, with Mazepin driving both days for the team. This is the last official test before the end of the season, although many teams have already put their attention towards 2017.
