Pirelli have revealed the tyre allocations for the Mexican Grand Prix next weekend, and it shows that Mercedes have taken a conservative approach to the weekend.
Mercedes will be taking the least number of supersoft tyres of any team, which could indicate they are hoping they might be able to qualify in Q2 on the soft tyre which could give an advantage during the race. As usual though with the teammates, they are talking slightly different tyre strategies Rosberg taking an extra set of the hard over Hamilton, with the British driver taking an extra set of the soft.
Next best, Red Bull and Ferrari take almost identical options for the race, in their battle for second in the championship with just only a couple of races remaining. With an engine deficit to overcome at the end of the season, Toro Rosso have gone the raciest on their strategy, taking eight sets of the supersoft tyre, followed by Sauber and Williams on seven. ~
Given the altitude of Mexico City, some of those teams who have struggled with engine performance may see a boost along the long straights and fast sections of the Mexican track.
