McLaren have confirmed today they are to launch their new car on February 24th.
It will be a busy week of launches, with Renault, Mercedes, Force India and Ferrari all taking the wraps off their 2017 cars. McLaren will launch theirs the same day as Ferrari, on Friday 24th February at 11am GMT.
The announcement came with a possible preview of an ‘orange’ colour scheme, which could mark the end of the generic chrome or grey schemes of previous years. New CEO Zak Brown confirmed last week that the livery had been signed off, although a title sponsor will still be absent for the 2017 season.
Fernando Alonso, now in his possible final year with the team will be joined by McLaren ‘Junior’ Stoffel Vandoorne, a driver who impressed in GP2.
Honda will also bring a redesigned engine for 2017, taking inspiration from the Mercedes design as they try to catch up to the leading power train.
