Magnussen taken to hospital after race stopping crash

Renault’s Kevin Magnussen has been taken to hospital after a large crash which saw the race stopped after just nine laps.

Magnussen lost control of his Renault at the top of Eau Rouge at Radillon after unsettling it at the bottom of the hill my taking too much kerb. It careered off into the tyre barriers at high speed, hitting one wall before being spun around and hitting another. The impact even dislodged the headrest, throwing it clear from the car.

Although the Dane was able to walk away from the accident, the team confirmed he had a small cut to his ankle, which he was taken to hospital after being assessed at the circuit medical centre.
