Lance Stroll to join Bottas at Williams in 2017

Canadian Lance Stroll is to replace Felipe Massa at Williams for 2017, with Valtteri Bottas returning for another season with the team.

Stroll, the current European F3 champion, has impressed this season winning nearly half the races and finishing on the podium for two thirds of them. Although he was a Ferrari development driver last season, he moved to Williams this year alongside GP2 driver Alex Lynn. His father Lawrence Stroll made his fortune in the fashion industry investing in a lot of famous brands such as Pierre Cardin, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren, and also has a passion for cars and motorsport.

Valtteri Bottas will remain, but is one of the drivers waiting for a seat to become available at Ferrari in 2018, alongside Romain Grosjean and Sergio Perez. As a protégé of Toto Wolff, who engineered his entry into Williams, the Finn has impressed alongside Felipe Massa and is a natural option to lead the team next season.
