Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will have an identical tyre choice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next weekend, the final race of the season and the championship finale in the desert.
Although Rosberg has a 12 point advantage, that gap has been eroded by Hamilton. It is Rosberg’s to lose though, with a fourth place finish good enough for the German to take the crown in Abu Dhabi. To give the drivers a fair footing, as well as engine performance, they will have four sets of the soft tyre, two of the supersoft and seven of the ultrasoft.
A number of other teams have taken the same strategy, with Manor, Sauber, Toro Rosso and Red Bull keeping the same choice for each of their drivers. Nico Hulkenberg will be taking the most number of set of the ultrasoft (qualifying) tyre, and McLaren taking the most of the soft compound.
