Ruth Buscombe, the former strategist of Haas will join Sauber from the Malaysian Grand Prix after ‘disappearing’ for most of the summer.
She held the role of strategist at Ferrari, before moving to Haas this season. The team enjoyed their richest vein of form under her stewardship, claiming points in their first races thanks to some clever strategy work, and form has declined in her absence during the middle part of the season.
Buscombe will take the same role at Sauber, starting from the Malaysian Grand Prix in a couple of weeks time and it comes at a time of significant rebuilding for the Swiss team after their recent buy-out from financiers Longbow Finance. Other new recuits for the team include Nicolas Hennel de Beaupreau in Aerodynamics, Xeji Pujolar in Track Engineering and it has been reported that Marcus Ericsson’s manager is now employed by the team as a link between the Swedes backers and the new owners.
