Ashley’s Predictions for 2016

Not often I do this, but I thought that I would stick my neck on the line and write down a few predictions I have for the season ahead – lets see how I do in November!

World Driver Champion – Nico Rosberg Yes, I know that might sound a little strange considering he has been beaten by Lewis Hamilton for the last couple of seasons, but he really got a handle on Lewis Hamilton at the end of last season and as long as qualifying and the race come together for him he is really going to be hard to catch.

World Constructors Champion – Mercedes With Lewis and Nico still at the top of their game it is really hard to see past the German manufacturer again in 2016. This despite a resurgent Ferrari who will come close, but maybe not quite close enough for them to take it away. I’m really not sure that Kimi Raikkonen will be on the same sort of performance level as Sebastian Vettel.

Most Likely To Finish Last – Sorry to say that I think it will be a Manor driver, and considering the pace we have seen from Pascal Wehrlein in other cars, I has to be Rio Haryanto. It is going to be a steep learning curve for the Indonesian who had two spins in testing.

Team Most Likely to Finish Last – In theory one would normally say Manor, they do look to be the slowest on paper, but I think that Wehrlein could pull a result or two out of the bag. Given that I don’t believe they are going to be as strong as last season I will say Sauber.

Pole Position Champion – Nico Rosberg, but only just….
