Alonso to get new Honda engine this weekend

Fernando Alonso will be getting an upgraded Honda engine this weekend, although they have not spent any engine tokens in the process.

Thought to be for reliabilty reasons, Alonso will get a slightly revised power unit which could improve the perforamnce of the car by up to three tenths of a second. While Jenson Button will remain with the engine he had in Spain, both cars will also have new batteries, also to be changed on reliabilty grounds.

It is the third engine of the season for Fernando Alonso of the permitted five, and we are only five races into the new season – engine penalties look likely again for McLaren by the end of the season.
